You're a good dog, your owners need some help

When dog owners learn the skills needed to lead their dogs, dogs become calm and confident in their owners.  When that happens, your dog becomes the best dog it can and has a great life with it's family.

Our private training focuses on you.

We help you develop the skills that you need to teach your dog and

become confident in your ability to handle your dog.

All of our services are available in Victoria’s Westshore and Cowichan Valley.  Our Service Dog Programs are now available in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.  We provide group, private and customized training.  If you are looking for someone to help you and your dog overcome a challenge, we are here for you.  We look forward to seeing you in one of our classes or we will be happy to create a personalized training plan for you and your dog.

Your dog is not just a dog, they are a member of your family. We work with you to give you the knowledge and skills that you need to help your dog.  Your dog will become a reflection of you and how you lead your pack.  By identifying and addressing the areas that you need support, you will be able to help your dog to become a respectful member of your pack.

BUT WHO TRAINS US?

The Dog Training industry is not regulated.  When a Dog Trainer boasts about being certified, it often does not mean much, unlike other professions. Certifications in dog training can be attained online and in some cases without even completing any course work.

Our Trainers do have certifications, in fact several.  Our certifications come from well respected and established organizations and schools. We have sought out experts in Dog Training who have also become experts in teaching Dog Trainers.  Some examples include Penn Foster University, Yellow Quill College, The Dunbar Academy and the Glasgow Dog Trainer.  We attend in person courses with other trainers and dog experts and we even shadow other trainers locally, nationally and internationally.  We are constantly training ourselves so that we can become better trainers for you. We are always learning.

We approach all training from a science based prospective.  Positive reinforcement is the foundation of all of our training.  We want to foster a foundation of trust with dogs.

We are members or several organizations that strive to improve dog training and raise the standards expected for Professional Dog Trainers.  These organizations include:

The Canadian Kennel Club

The Canadian Association of Dog Trainers

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers

The Canadian Association of Service Dog Trainers

Medical Service Dogs International

Search and Recovery Dog Association of Victoria

As for our Service Dog Training, we have partnered with MSAR.  This is an organization based in Winnipeg Manitoba.  MSAR has developed a comprehensive training program for both their trainers and their Service Dogs.  MSAR is recognized internationally as an organization that provides Elite Service Dogs.  MSAR's Service Dogs and Working Dogs are recognized around the world in such countries as the Ukraine, Israel, The Czech Republic, several African nations and the United States to whom MSAR provides dozens of Services Dogs annually to the US Military for their veterans (this alone speaks volumes about the standards of our Service Dogs and our Service Dog Training Programs)

Complete K9 works with other organizations to improve standards and expectations of Service Dogs and Service Dog Training.  Along with MSAR, we are lobbying the Federal Government to adopt National Standards for the certification of Service Dogs.

David Marshall

David is our Head Trainer.  He has more than 20 years experience working with and training dogs and their people.  This started with his own German Shepherd Dog and quickly grew to working with friends and neighbours to help them with their dogs.  When David retired from policing, he pursued his love of working with dogs and became a certified trainer.  David has completed certification through Penn Foster University and The Dunbar Academy.

Training should never end for dogs or trainers.  As a result David seeks out training opportunities for himself.  David travelled to Manitoba to train with MSAR with Service Dogs, companion dogs and aggressive dogs.  He works with other Dog Experts and has developed a network of contacts that he can turn to for additional support and guidance.

David has trained companion animals, Service Dogs and scent detection dogs.  He has worked with several Service Dog Handlers to help them train their personal Service Dogs become fully certified Service Dog Teams.

David also provides mentorship to other Dog Trainers and will work with other dog experts to ensure that a client's needs are met.  He is more concerned that people and their dogs get the support they need and will not hesitate to make a referral when it is in the best interests of the dog.
